The reintroduced GX 550 (2024+) is one of the most-talked-about new vehicles in the off-road luxury segment. Built on the same TNGA-F platform as the Toyota Land Cruiser, Tundra, and Sequoia, powered by a 3.4L twin-turbo V6 making 349 horsepower, it's positioned as a more capable and more expensive alternative to the Land Cruiser.
Five trims: Premium, Premium+, Luxury, Overtrail, and Overtrail+. Overtrail has generated most of the press — locking front and rear differentials, disconnecting front sway bar, 33-inch all-terrain tires, and a serious off-road appearance. Overtrail+ adds the air suspension and a few comfort items. For buyers who actually wheel the vehicle, Overtrail is the right pick; Overtrail+ is for buyers who want the look without compromising on-road comfort.
Pricing has been firm since launch. Below-MSRP GX listings are rare; many dealers still pull markup, particularly on Overtrail trims. The Premium and Premium+ trims are the most negotiable, since they're competing with the Land Cruiser at $15K less.
