The 2024 reintroduction of the Land Cruiser in the US market is one of Toyota's more deliberate plays. Built on the same TNGA-F platform as the Tacoma and Lexus GX, but priced thousands below the GX 550 Overtrail with similar capability, the Land Cruiser is positioned as the off-road utility Toyota for buyers who want a Lexus GX without the badge tax.
Two trims: 1958 (entry, around $58K) and the standard Land Cruiser (around $62K). Both share the i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain — 326 horsepower combined, 465 lb-ft of torque. The 1958 strips the moonroof and some interior niceties; for buyers who want the cleanest expression of the Land Cruiser concept, 1958 is arguably more on-brand than the standard trim.
Supply remains tight relative to demand. Below-MSRP deals are uncommon and many dealers still pull modest markup. Heritage Blue is rationed and frequently pre-sold; the Meteor Shower gray and black exterior colors see more discounting.
If you're cross-shopping the GX 550: the Land Cruiser sits about $15K below at MSRP, and you give up some interior refinement and the GX's 3.4L twin-turbo V6 in exchange. For most buyers who actually wheel the vehicle, that's a trade worth making.
